AUTUMN

                                   Here comes Autumn! Briliant trees
                                    Nippy breezes - whirling leaves
                                   Sunny days and starry nights
Any time now - Christmas lights
Hint of frost upon the grass
                                    Sunshine means it doesn't last
                                   Gardens looking old and sad
Though still some colour to be had

                                   Roses bloom in sheltered spots
                                    Dahlias - their colours hot
Even though the days are not
Fields are brown, and ploughed and sown
                                   Some with green already showing
                                    Apples ripe upon the trees
                                   Falling in the stiffening breeze
                                    Hawthorn berries on the hedges
                                   Hanging there like tiny cherries
                                    Misty mornings - dewy grass
I am sad when Autumn's passed....
